WELFARE & RESCUE
Welfare & Rescue Programme
The Saint Bernard Club of NSW Inc is a proactive participant in the Dogs NSW Rescue programme ensuring the welfare of Saints by assisting with the re-homing of Saint Bernards from around the country's pounds and shelters and with those surrendered by owners and strays found wandering.
From time to time the Club requires suitable homes for re-homing these abandoned, neglected or unwanted Saints and maintains a register of potential new homes. If you are interested in having your name placed on the register please fill out the Welfare & Rescue Registration Form below.
All other enquiries regarding the surrender or Saints needing new homes please contact the Club Welfare Officer Jamie Clapham Phone: 0425 259 999 or e-mail: [email protected] Please include details such as your name, your contact details (incl. address), Saints name, sex, whether spayed/neutered, last vaccination date, any information regarding behaviour e.g. scared of storms, lives with cats, doesn't like the car and other likes and dislikes and reason for re-homing. It is very important for us to begin the re-homing process with as much information as possible so that we may make the best suitable match so this initial information is vital.
The Club only seeks a donation from the recipient to cover the cost of re-homing their Saint. A complimentary/no charge Welfare Membership is provided for one year to those re-homing a Saint through this programme.
The Saint Bernard Club of NSW Inc follows the guidelines set out by the Australian National Kennel Council Pure Bred Dog Rescue policy statement. After exhausting all means of trying to locate the owner and/or breeder we ensure that the Saint Bernard
is:
1. Vet checked
2. Vaccinated
3. Spayed or neutered
4. Microchipped
A nominal donation is requested from the new owner to cover these costs.
